Color lithograph on wove paper. Stamped with the artist's signature, "Sonia
Delaunay" lower right. Dated "1924" bottom center. Annotated page "4" lower
right. In perfect condition. Sonia Terk Delaunay moved to Paris in 1905 where she met and married her husband, Robert Delaunay. Sonia and her husband founded their own movement called Orphism, based on Cubism but focused more on rhythm, lyricism, color and light. She often used her colorful geometric compositions for textiles, tapestries, fashionable clothing and theater costumes. In the 1930s Sonia returned to painting and with her husband became a part of the Abstract-Création group including Wassily Kandinsky and Piet Mondrian. In 1964 Sonia Delauney became the first living female artist ever to be exhibited at the Louvre during her lifetime. |
