Crayon lithograph (transfer of a drawing on stiff paper, Kunsthaus Lempertz, Colone, Auction 535, Nov. 30, 1973, nr. 409). Hand signed by the artist “Käthe Kollwitz” in pencil, lower right. The stone was destroyed. In very good condition.

In Arthur Bonus, Das Käthe Kollwitz Werk, Dresden 1927, nr. 127, a caption reproducing the artist's handwriting entitles the work "Verzweifelnde" (Despairing). This lithograph was dated 1920 by Wagner and Klipstein; there is no evidence for a more precise dating.
