The Beau Geste Suite is a series of six lithographs that Motherwell created to coincide with the publication of Marcelin Pleynet's book, "Robert Motherwell." The lithographs were meant to express Motherwell's appreciation to Pleynet for writing a text on his work as the inaugural volume in the series "Histoire et Philosophie de l'Art."

This impression was part of a boxed set of the lithographs accompanied by six poems written by Plenet titled "Beau Geste pour Lucrèce." The numbered edition of 100 in Arabic numerals was distributed by Editions Daniel Papierski, Paris. The numbered edition of 25 in Roman numerals was distributed by Waddington Graphics Ltd, London.
