Original drypoint etching printed on Japon paper. Signed in the stone with Lautrec's monogram, lower left. From the deluxe edition of "Lautrec" by Théodore Duret, published by Bernheim-Jeune in 1920. The book from which this particular lithograph was pulled is numbered "66/100" aside from the edition of 100 which was printed on Arches wove paper. 25 impressions of this particular print were also printed for M. Bernard, and 445 were later made for Le Peintre-Graveur of Delteil.

Tristan Bernard was a lawyer and the sports director for the Buffalo velodrome.   Tristan Bernard was also the editor-in-chief for the "Journal des Vélocipédistes".   Toulouse-Lautrec was introduced to Jules Renard through Tristan Bernard.   In 1899, following the encounter, Lautrec illustrated Jules Renard's "Histoire Naturelle".
