oil on board. Hand signed by the artist "M. Canet" in blue paint, lower right. Dimensions: unframed: 11" x 16", framed: 23 3/4" x 18 3/4" Born in Paris, Canet was a genre and landscape painter who studied under
William Bouguereau, Gabriel Ferrier and Henry Roger. He became a member of
the Salon des Artistes Français and exposed there between 1903 and 1935. He
was commissioned to paint a mural at the Grand Hôtel de Paimpol France.
Canet also exhibited his work in numerous galleries in Algeria, London,
Cardiff and Paris. Today, his work can be seen in the Museum of Morlaix.
